A 4-year-old girl was in “extremely critical” condition Sunday evening after a medical scan showed that metal fragments, possibly from a bullet, were in her head, Las Vegas police said.
Lt. Ted Snodgrass said police originally were called about a girl who fell off a truck and injured her head. She had been with relatives who were shooting at targets in the desert.
The girl was driven to an area near Interstate 15 and Las Vegas Boulevard, where paramedics met her. She was airlifted to University Medical Center.
Lt. Ted Snodgrass said the incident occurred about 4:20 p.m. in the desert south of Sloan in unincorporated Clark County.
Snodgrass said detectives with the department’s homicide and violent crimes section were interviewing the girl’s father and grandfather.
