Four appointed to board overseeing UNLV stadium proposal
July 19, 2013 - 12:03 pm
The UNLVNow project took an important step Friday.
The state’s Board of Regents during a special meeting appointed the first four members of the UNLV Campus Improvement Authority. They are Regents Cedric Crear, James Dean Leavitt and Michael Wixom; and Don Snyder, the point man for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The 11-board member will develop a new stadium proposal starting at their first meeting in October.
The Clark County Commission and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will each name one member. The Nevada Senate majority leader, the Assembly speaker and governor each get to pick a member. Those nine then will choose two casino executives.
The board will then have to complete a report by Sept. 30, 2014 that establishes the need for the stadium, feasibility, scale and scope, an estimated cost and recommendations for funding, Synder said.
