Flash flood advisory in northern Clark County

Rain fell intermittently near Moapa and in Henderson Saturday night, leading the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood advisory.

Storms moved in west of Moapa Saturday evening but were quickly moving north with scattered showers. The clouds were headed away from the Interstate 15 area that was washed out by flooding earlier this month.

A weather service spokesman said the heaviest rains would likely fall in the area between Moapa and U.S. Highway 93.

The original advisory was in effect until 9:45 p.m., but the weather service extended it until 10:15 p.m. for the area southwest of Moapa, closer to the Las Vegas Valley.

On the other side of the map, Henderson residents saw some showers in the evening, the weather service said. The rain was falling mainly on the east side of the valley, as far south as the hill separating Henderson from Boulder City.
