Eastbound Summerlin Parkway reopens after suicide jump

A Tuesday morning suicide shut down eastbound Summerlin Parkway near the U.S. 95 for about five hours.

Nevada Highway Patrol responded just before 5:30 a.m. after woman jumped from the Summerlin Parkway overpass onto U.S. 95. She did not survive the fall.

The only traffic lanes that were open from eastbound Summerlin Parkway about 6:42 a.m. were the southbound carpool lanes on the U.S. 95 exit ramp, according to NHP’s Trooper Jeremie Elliott. Traffic from eastbound Summerlin to Rainbow Boulevard was completely closed.

Three vehicles were involved in a related collision, Elliot said, possibly after the woman fell.

All lanes re-opened about 10:30 a.m.
