Driver killed in car crash Sunday was 24-year-old man

A man killed in a Sunday car crash near Mountain Vista Street and Flamingo Road was identified Monday.

Las Vegas police said Julio Barroso-Vargas, 24, was driving a 1998 Saturn north on Mountain Vista about 4:56 a.m. at a high rate of speed. When he crossed Flamingo, he lost control, and the car spun and struck a wooden pole.

A passenger in the vehicle, an unidentified man, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition.
