Driver flees after fatally hitting pedestrian, 73

A man was killed and the driver of pickup truck that hit him fled the scene in the north valley on Friday night, North Las Vegas police said.

Officers were called to the scene in the 3300 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, near Palmer Street, about 7 p.m., police spokesman Steven Wiese said.

A 73-year-old North Las Vegas man was crossing Lake Mead when a truck traveling west struck him, Wiese said. The driver of that truck fled the scene.

Police are now looking for a dark-colored pickup truck with damage to the driver’s side, Wiese said.

It was the second fatal accident involving a valley pedestrian on Friday.
