Driver dies after van hits rear of trailer

A 56-year-old man who might have had a medical episode died after he crashed his slow-moving van into the back of a utility trailer in the west valley Monday morning, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the deceased man was not released by authorities.

The crash occurred at 9:19 a.m. near Desert Inn Road and Durango Drive.

Police said the man was driving a 1990 Ford Aerostar east on Desert Inn, west of Riley Road. He turned from Desert Inn southbound on Riley Street at a “very slow speed,” police said.

The minivan hit the rear of a utility trailer that was attached to a parked 2003 Isuzu truck. Police said witnesses who tried to help the driver of the Aerostar noticed he was having a medical episode.

He died at Southern Highlands Hospital.

The crash is under investigation.
