SANTA TO USHER IN HOLIDAY EVENTS
AT TOWN SQUARE LAS VEGAS

Winter holiday events at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, are set to begin at 7 p.m. Friday with Santa’s Arrival Parade and a ceremonial lighting of a 45-foot Christmas tree.

Beginning that evening and at 7 p.m. weekdays and 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, snowflakes will fall onto Town Square Park.

Directly following Santa’s parade Friday evening, children will have a chance to take photos with Santa in his house. The photo opportunities also will be available from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Dec. 23.

HELP OF SOUTHERN NEVADA LAUNCHES HOLIDAY PROGRAMS

HELP of Southern Nevada, 1640 E. Flamingo Road, is launching three of its annual programs this holiday season.

Donations to HELP’s Thanksgiving program provides a holiday meal for a family of four.

The group’s Adopt-a-Family program allows people to assist needy families in giving them clothing and toys for the holidays.

Lastly, the Holiday Assistance/Toy Drive benefits more than 16,000 families with its donations.

THANKSGIVING LUNCHEONS PLANNED
AT DOWNTOWN SENIOR CENTERS

Several area senior centers plan to host Thanksgiving luncheons this month.

n The East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave., is scheduled to host the Gobble, Gobble Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The cost is $5, and advance registration is required. Call 229-1515.

n The Howard Lieburn Senior Center, 6230 Garwood Ave., plans to host a traditional Thanksgiving luncheon at
11:30 a.m. Friday with live entertainment by Broadway star Nicole Pryor. The cost is $3, plus a dish to share, and advance registration is required. Call 229-1600.

n The Las Vegas Senior Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road, plans its Thanksgiving luncheon at noon Nov. 22. The cost is $5, and advance registration is required. Call 229-6454.

n The Doolittle Senior Center, 1950 N. J St., plans to host a harvest festival potluck from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 29. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish and a funny story to share. Advance registration is required. Call 229-6125.

PRERETIREMENT MEETING PLANNED

Those 65 or older and/or planning on retirement in the near future are invited to a city of Las Vegas preretirement meeting planned from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

Topics to be discussed include retirement benefits, Medicare eligibility and benefits and planning for Medicare gaps.

Experts will be on hand to answer questions.

FINAL LANDSCAPE TOUR SCHEDULED

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is slated to host the last of its free landscape tours this year at 9 a.m. Saturday in the courtyard at the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.
