Dog owner pleased with service at restaurant

I decided to bring my dog, Seaweed, a black schnauzer, to the Sunrise Cafe (8975 S. Eastern Ave., Suite 5) for breakfast on Tuesday. I sat outside with him. We were approached right away by two employees. My waiter asked for my drinks and the woman acknowledged Seaweed and asked me if he wanted some treats and a bowl of water, which she brought right away. I was floored. I had never felt so welcome, and they seemed genuinely happy that I was dining at their restaurant with my pet.

I wanted to thank them and the Sunrise Cafe for making me feel like one of their family while I was eating my breakfast. It was such a pleasant surprise to be treated so warmly, and the way they looked after Seaweed will forever touch my heart. Thanks again for the excellent service. I’ll make sure I tell all my friends about your wonderful restaurant.

Summerlin resident asks dog owners
to clean up after their pets

I have lived in Summerlin/Las Vegas since July 2011, and something has been puzzling me ever since I relocated to this beautiful place: Dog owners, why don’t you pick up after your dog? It would take less than five minutes, and the city even provides bags and waste stations at regular points along trails and in the green spaces. My family and I frequently use the walking trails and sidewalks, and everywhere the green spaces, trail sides and often the sidewalks are littered with dog feces. Yesterday it was in the middle of the sidewalk, about 4 feet from a doggie do station that had bags available!

Folks, it is a cryin’ shame. It would be like me throwing my child’s dirty diapers along the trail. Can’t we all be more considerate of others, including other animals, using the space? It is unsanitary, unhealthy to humans and other animals, and downright ugly.

Perhaps some of the people who refuse to clean up after their pet, especially when the supplies are right there next to you, would like to offer their reasons for not doing so. I really don’t get it. In any case, I would like to ask dog owners to please be considerate of other people and other dogs that are playing on the green spaces and trails and pick up after their pets.
