Reader questions Cartoon’s message

After seeing your anti-HOA (homeowners association ) cartoon in your Dec. 27, 2011, edition of View , I searched both pages of your publication for an article exposing outrageous actions by HOAs in the area. I found nothing.

So, what is the point you are attempting to make with your seemingly irrelevant cartoon? If you are alleging there are HOAs in the area that are unresponsive and failing to perform their duties for their communities, then let’s see some names and descriptions of their alleged failures.

My personal experience has been that many people who complain about their HOA really have no idea what their HOA really does. These same people usually are unaware of what is in the CC&Rs for the property they own and are indignant when told that they are violating the CC&Rs they have never read. The people who whine and snivel about their HOA also never would consider running for a position on their HOA board because they are just way too busy to waste their time on that stuff.

I live in a community that has a pretty good HOA organization (Crystal Springs). However, an HOA meeting typically is attended by about six homeowners out of approximately 1,400 homes. Pretty sad.

So, was there a point to your cartoon, or are you just attempting to agitate the unwashed masses?
