Dining Pick of the Week: Yalla Mediterranean Grill

PICK OF THE WEEK:
YALLA MEDITERRANEAN GRILL

10895 S. Eastern Ave., 702-616-2200

This restaurant is all about family and family recipes. These two elements form the core of Yalla Mediterranean Grill’s authentic menu that says home, and home means Beirut, Lebanon and Amman, Jordan. Rotisserie chicken plates (whole, half, dark or white quarter) are served with fresh pita bread and garlic sauce. Mediterranean plates come with rice, hummus and pickles and include beef, chicken or gyro shawarma. There are vegetarian plates (veggie grape laves, falafel) and grilled kabobs over rice featuring beef, chicken, kafta or veggie. Popular salads are Yalla (romaine, tomato, cucumber, mint), Greek, tabouli, Mediterranean garbanzo, and almond vinaigrette with lettuce, almonds and feta cheese. Among the wraps and sandwiches are beef or chicken shawarma with seasoned onions, tomatoes, pickles and tahini sauce, beef and lamb gyro, roasted chicken, and the always-popular vegetarian falafel. Among the sides are pickled turnips, baba ghanoush, lentil soup and french fries. And no Mediterranean meal is complete without baklava for dessert, accompanied by a cup of Mediterranean coffee. Chicken platters begin at $7.50, and salads start at $3.50. Yalla Mediterranean Grill is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. — Jack Bulavsky
