10895 S. Eastern Ave., No. 100, Henderson; 702-834-3311
There are many unique elements to this restaurant, beginning with chef Wageh Gendy’s menu that profiles Italian, French and several Mediterranean and Middle Eastern classic specialties. However, let’s start with the chef’s legendary desserts, including baklava, maple pecan squares, banana bread, biscotti, bread pudding and warm homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Now, it’s time to eat. Several appetizers are hummus with pita, soup of the day and salads such as Cobb, Greek, Chinese chicken (romaine, cabbage, cilantro, sliced almonds, sesame seeds, green onions and wonton strips in Asian sesame vinaigrette) and spinach with arugula, cranberry and walnuts in cranberry vinaigrette. Featured dishes are penne bechamel, chicken chipotle pasta (honey-glazed chicken, asparagus, red and yellow peppers, garlic, onion, spicy chipotle cream sauce), pesto chicken panini, Southwest wrap (pepperjack cheese, spicy ranch dressing, black beans, corn relish, romaine, tomato, jalapeno cheddar tortilla), turkey breast sandwich with sliced avocado, veggie burger and Jorie, a sandwich with avocado, jalapeno pepperjack, onions, roma tomatoes, lettuce and spicy ranch sauce. The special is Egyptian chicken or beef platter. Salads start at $6.99, and the house special begins at $7.55. Sugar & Spice is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
