PICK OF THE WEEK:
RON’S STEAKHOUSE
Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, 740 S. Decatur Blvd., 702-258-5201
When it’s time to spend an evening with someone special, give Ron Lurie a call. The former Las Vegas mayor and current executive vice president and general manager of Arizona Charlie’s Decatur has built an award-winning gem of a restaurant. Entrees, served with soup or salad, include 24-ounce Porterhouse, certified Angus prime rib, Alaskan black cod with miso glaze, Australian king crab legs, filet mignon, shrimp scampi with linguine and chicken or veal prepared Marsala, piccata or Oscar (white asparagus, crab, bearnaise and Bordelaise sauce). House signature dishes are osso bucco, half rack of lamb and Charlie’s steak au poivre, where filet mignon medallions are coated with cracked peppercorns and sauteed with shallots, Dijon, cognac and cream. Several sides are steakhouse fries, garlic mashed potatoes, risotto-style orzo pasta and sauteed mushrooms. Popular appetizers are calamari, stuffed mushrooms, New England crab cakes and oysters Rockefeller. There are soups (lobster bisque, French onion), salads (wedge, Caesar, chopped) and desserts, including bananas Foster, New York cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake and after-dinner coffees such as Keoke and Monte Cristo (Kahlua, Grand Marnier, whipped cream). Steaks begin at $24. Ron’s Steakhouse is open from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. — Jack Bulavsky
