Dining pick of the week: Parsley Mediterranean Grill

6420 S. Pecos Road at Sunset Road,
489-3189

Parsley is more than a garnish. From a medicinal point of view, parsley behaves as an anti-cacerous herb, protecting the liver and intestines. It also is an anti-rheumatic and a digestive stimulant eliminating toxins and kidney stones. Moreover, parsley seeds also stimulate fertility. No wonder this restaurant is so popular. Several parsley bowls are chicken or steak shwarma over basmati rice with a salad of fresh parsley, chopped onion and tahini dressing, a sesame seed-based with garlic coriander, ground cumin and lemon juice. Plates include chicken or steak shwarma and chicken or beef kabob, served with two sides, such as babaganoush, hummus, tabouli salad, Mediterranean or basmati rice, fries, pita chips or tzatziki, strained yogurt mixed with cucumbers, garlic, salt, olive oil, pepper and dill, mint or parsley. There is falafel along with homemade pita bread wraps or sandwiches made on French baguette. Desserts include chocolate tartufo, gelato scooped into balls and covered with chocolate. Parsley bowls begin at $6.50 and plates at $6.95. Parsley is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. — Jack Bulavsky
