Everyone has their favorite type of Chinese food when it comes to flavor and seasoning. New York style is best described as, well, New York –– familiar, favorable and very addicting. Chef’s specials include hot and spicy General Tso’s shrimp, lemon chicken, twice-cooked pork, orange beef, Seafood Delight (shrimp, scallops, crab, squid, Chinese vegetables) and Happy Family, where beef, crab, shrimp, chicken and roast pork are stir fried with mixed vegetables. Other entrees are chop suey, sweet and sour (pork, chicken, beef, shrimp), Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian pork, Hunan beef, curry beef with onions, scallops with garlic sauce, shrimp with cashew nuts and sesame chicken. There is lo mein (soft noodles), mein fun (thin rice noodles), chow fun (flat rice noodles) and the very popular New York chow mein with crispy noodles. Several soups are egg drop, hot and sour, vegetable, chicken noodle and seafood bean curd, along with egg foo yong, moo shu and vegetarian dishes, including eggplant with tofu, Buddha’s Delight and Mongolian or orange tofu. Lunch specials are daily from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entrees begin at $5.25. New York Chinese is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. — Jack Bulavsky
