Football season is under way at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Lefty’s is a good place to gather before or after the game. Pizzas are medium, large or Sicilian. Besides the traditional toppings, enjoy one of Lefty’s specials, such as the Babe Ruth Home Run (pepperoni, sausage, meatball, onion, peppers, black olives, mushrooms), the veggie, Bond’s BBQ Chicken, Whitey Ford (ricotta, mozzarella, onions), Popeye (spinach, garlic, ricotta, mozzarella, tomato sauce), Mickelson (ham, sausage, pepperoni, meatball, bacon) or The Romano (garlic, romano cheese, oregano). Popular sandwiches are Italian combo, sausage and peppers, salami and cheese, Philly cheese steak, turkey and cheese, parmigiana (chicken, eggplant, meatball) and barbecue beef topped with onion rings and cheese. Several dinners are cheese ravioli, baked ziti, ribs, chicken Alfredo and spaghetti with meatballs. There are salads (antipasto, grilled chicken), calzones, strombolis and appetizers such as chicken wings and fingers, garlic knots, breaded mushrooms and pizza bread. Any purchase over $25 gets a free large salad or an order of spaghetti. Pizzas begin at $6.99 and sandwiches at $6.50. Lefty’s Pizza is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
