Dining pick of the week: Kunchorn

3430 E. Tropicana Ave. at Pecos Road, 979-9977

It’s becoming more difficult to make just one restaurant a favorite as more restaurants are discovered that are just as good, if not better, than the one you just found. At Kunchorn, featured dinners can be made with tofu, vegetables, beef, pork, chicken, short ribs, fish, duck, shrimp or squid. Popular dinners include curry (yellow, red, green, pineapple) and pad Thai with spicy basil, garlic pepper, cashew nut, asparagus and ginger. Other entrees are pad chow mein with cabbage, broccoli, carrots and bean spouts with choice of meat, pineapple fried rice with egg, onions, raisins, tomato, roasted cashews, curry powder and meat, and pad woon sen, cellophane noodles sautéed with egg, bean sprouts, Chinese broccoli, tomato and onions in Thai-style sauce and choice of meat. Several house specials are barbecue chicken with papaya salad and sticky rice, and panang avocado with meat. Among the soups are tom kha (coconut), wonton, mixed vegetable and po-tak, a spicy stock with basil leaves, lemongrass, chilies, lime juice, shrimp, squid and mussels. Lunch specials ($4.99) are served from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include soup of the day, an egg roll, salad and rice. Dinners begin at $6.65 and soups and salads at $4.65. Kunchorn is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. — Jack Bulavsky
