Tapas continue to be a popular way to dine because it brings everyone at the table a little closer. Firefly is the place to do that. Among the chilled tapas are tuna tartare and Boquerones, Spanish white anchovies on toast with red pepper and avocado. Featured hot tapas are stuffed dates, veggie empanada, albondigas (meatballs), Chicago beef bacadillos (shaved beef sandwiches with housemade giardiniera), Firefly fries with Parmesan, shrimp tempura, mushroom tart and lamb chops with sauteed lentils. Other popular selections are babyback ribs, grilled scallops, spicy beef salad and piquillo peppers stuffed with mozzarella, garlic cream cheese and tomato sauce. Entrees include salad or pasta bowls (add grilled chicken breast or shrimp). There is a 14-ounce rib-eye with Cabrales bleu cheese and paella (veggie, chicken and mushroom, seafood) made to order. Special desserts include caramel flan with almond cookie, chocolate cherry bread pudding and lemon-berry tarts. Tapas begin at $4, and paella starts at $16.
