Area briefing

Decatur Boulevard segment closed nightly through Thursday

Northbound Decatur Boulevard is set to be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily through Thursday between the on- and off-ramps at U.S. Highway 95 and Bonanza Road, according to the city of Las Vegas.

The closure is due to the installation of a pedestrian bridge across Decatur Boulevard near U.S. 95.

Bridge decking will be fabricated and installed and concrete will be poured, weather permitting. Painting, fencing and lighting work will continue through July but should require only lane restrictions, the city said.

Construction of the pedestrian bridge is part of the $4.9 million Bonanza Trail Phase II improvement project that began Nov. 1, 2010, and is expected to continue through July.

The improvement project completes the overall trail connection from Durango Drive to downtown and includes more than 4.5 miles of improvements to the city’s trail system.
