TRAVELING FOOD FESTIVAL COMING TO LAS VEGAS SEPT. 27-28

The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America Local Flavor from Coast to Coast Traveling Food Festival is scheduled to stop in Las Vegas Sept. 27-28. The event will showcase culinary all-stars and public events exploring the nation’s unique range of local cuisines.

Free culinary consumer events are set to kick off the weekend Sept. 27, with details to be announced, followed by an exclusive dining event at The Mirage at 8 p.m. Sept. 28. A poolside gala tasting and reception, A Taste of America, will be co-hosted by James Beard Award winner and Taste America All-Star Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto and host chef Christian Schmidt.

The Life is Beautiful Festival has announced its lineup of culinary programming for the inaugural event set for Oct. 26-27 in downtown Las Vegas. More than 60 chefs and restaurants, 24 wineries and 24 breweries are expected to participate.

SILVERTON ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER DINING SPECIALS

The Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, is offering a $10 lunch special at Mi Casa Grill Cantina from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday in September. Choices are grilled chicken nachos, shrimp salad, green chili chicken enchiladas, crispy tacos or camarones a la diabla. Taco Tuesday is being offered from 4 to 9 p.m., with three items for $10, including a house margarita or 16-ounce draft beer. Two-for-one fajitas are available for Silverton Rewards Club members Wednesdays.

Club members can get two-for-one dining at the Seasons Buffet Thursdays in September. Single diners will receive half off their meal.

Twin Creeks Steakhouse is offering Prime Rib Wednesday for $29.99 from 5 to 10 p.m. The special comes with soup or salad and a side.

SILVERTON HOSTING MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL PARTIES

The Veil Pavilion at the Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, is scheduled to host the Monday Night Football Experience at 4:30 p.m. Mondays for guests 21 or older.

Admission is free. Games will be broadcast on large high-definition screens. Drink specials include $2 Bud Light pints, and rotating food trucks are planned. A full bar also will be available.

Armed man killed by police in downtown Las Vegas identified

The Clark County coroner’s office identified a man who was shot and killed by police after he allegedly pointed a rifle at officers in a downtown apartment complex.
