Bar+Bistro at The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd., plans to roast a pig on its patio every other Saturday. The next roast is planned for Saturday.
The roast pig, or lechón, is marinated with fresh herbs and spices, hog tied and placed over the fire to cook for more than eight hours while being turned and basted with honey and white wine.
The roast pig is served as carnitas or tacos. Poets and live jazz also are part of the night and are scheduled for 6 p.m.

Springs Cafe plans Mothers Day brunch
The Springs Cafe at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., plans to host a Mothers Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 8.
The cost is $29.95 for adults, $12.50 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 or younger.
An a la carte brunch is hosted every Sunday through June from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $21 for adults, $12.50 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 or younger. Coffee and soda are included.
Springs Preserve members receive 10 percent off both the Mothers Day brunch and Sunday a la carte brunches.

Enjoy Mothers Day brunch with a view
One Six Sky Lounge inside the Eastside Cannery, 5255 Boulder Highway, plans to offer dining specials for Mothers Day on May 8.
One Six Sky Lounge, offering a panoramic view of the Las Vegas Valley from the 16th floor, plans to serve a champagne brunch, with six seatings available between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The menu is set to feature omelets prepared to order, eggs Benedict, rosemary-crusted prime rib, seafood, salads and more. Desserts will feature a selection of cookies, tarts, creme brulee, tiramisu, warm bread pudding with rum sauce and three-layer cakes.
Champagne and Bloody Marys will be included, along with non-alcoholic beverages. All mothers will receive a gift box of chocolates.
The cost is $29.99 per person. Children 9 or younger are half price. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 856-5566.
Carls Jr. partners with March of Dimes, Las Vegas 51s for fundraisers
Carls Jr. locations across the Las Vegas Valley are collecting donations for the March of Dimes through May 23.
Any customer who donates $1 will receive a special cutout to sign and display, along with food coupons. Last year Carls Jr. raised $40,000 for the organization, which supports research, awareness programs, local hospitals and families affected by the outcomes of premature births.
Carls Jr. also is partnering with the Las Vegas 51s baseball team. While supplies last, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson locations are giving one ticket to a 51s game to customers for free, upon request, with the purchase of any large combo. Blindconnect to host blindfolded meal at Texas Station
Blindconnect plans to host Blind Date, a dining in the dark experience, at Texas Station, 2101 Texas Star Lane, May 5.
Guests will experience a three-course meal while wearing blindfolds. Blind and visually impaired ambassadors will be at each table to provide helpful hints and share blindness information. A silent auction and presentation of the described video Angelas House also are planned.
Blindconnect is a nonprofit organization that provides referrals and peer support to blind and visually impaired Southern Nevadans.

Wine Walks to raise funds for New Vista Community
The Village Lake Las Vegas plans to host a Wine Walk from 7 to 10 p.m. May 7 to raise funds for New Vista Community, a nonprofit group that provides equal opportunities and support for the intellectually challenged people of all ages.
The Wine Walk will feature a variety of wines at 20 different tasting stations through the Village and live entertainment.
Another Wine Walk to benefit New Vista Community is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. May 21 at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
The cost for either event is $25 per person in advance or $30 for a single ticket or two for $50 at the door.

Las Vegas Epicurean Affair set for May 26 at the Palazzo
The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair is scheduled for May 26 at The Pools at the Palazzo, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
The annual event is sponsored by the Nevada Restaurant Association (NvRA) and will feature samplings of cuisine and cocktails from restaurants and beverage purveyors. The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair package features a luxury suite at the Palazzo or The Venetian, two general admission tickets to the Affair, two-for-one well drinks at Salute Lounge, complimentary line pass/admission to LAVO nightclub and a buy-one-get-one-half-off ticket deal for a gondola ride.
