Silverton serves up dining specials

The Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, is offering a variety of dining specials in September.

On Sunday, all Silverton restaurants and bars will feature a 20 percent discount all day for all active military personnel, police officers and firefighters with valid ID.

A lobster feast is planned from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays at the Seasons Buffet. Every person who purchases a buffet receives one whole Maine lobster. Other lobster dishes also will be available.

Silverton Rewards Club members will receive one free entry each week for the chance to win a trip to Boston and a tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery. Second place is a $100 Lobster Gram gift certificate.

The feast is $27.99 for cardholders and $30.99 for adults without cards.

Specialty buffets are planned Thursdays through Sundays, including a Polynesian buffet from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursdays ($20.99 with card), Surf & Turf buffet 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays ($22.99 with card) and Cowboy BBQ 4 to 10 p.m. Saturdays ($20.99 with card). Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., guests can enjoy a Bellini brunch buffet ($17.99 with card).

Twin Creeks is offering a special, $30.11 three-course menu in honor of Las Vegas Restaurant Week through Sunday. Courses are choice of arugula and baby greens house salad or Caesar salad and choice of chicken Milanese with lemon beurre blanc, an 8-ounce beef tenderloin or oven-baked salmon on a cedar plank. The third course will be caramel apple strudel or berry creme brulee.

LES KINCAID TO INSTRUCT WINE CLASS Sept. 13 at Total Wine & More

Les Kincaid, host of the nationally syndicated radio show "Les’ Wines & Vines" plans to host wine and cooking classes in September from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on select days.

Regional Pinot Noirs is planned for Sept. 13 at Total Wine & More in Boca Park, 730 S. Rampart Blvd. Taste and experience the differences in pinot noirs from different regions.

LEARN TO ROLL SUSHI AT HACHI

Hachi Modern Japanese, inside Red Rock Resort at 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., offers monthly sushi rolling classes. The next one is set for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15.

The two-hour class will offer each participant his own work area with all ingredients at arm’s length. The cost is $85 per person, plus tax.

EAST WEST PIZZERIA TO RAISE FUNDS FOR JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION

East West Pizzeria, 5025 S. Fort Apache Road, plans to host a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation from noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 17.

The event is also a celebration of the pizzeria’s one-year anniversary. It is scheduled to include bounce houses, face painting, popcorn, ice cream, carnival games, baked goods and more.

Admission is free. From 2 to 4 p.m. slices of cheese pizza will be 15 cents. A pizza-eating contest is planned for 3 p.m. and live music and free cake from 4 to 7 p.m. Raffle tickets will be available for $1. Proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

GOLF TOURNAMENT TO PRESENT LUNCHEON FOR WOMEN

The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open plans to host its third annual Women’s Day event, the Kick Off Your Heels Luncheon, presented by Lulu B. Wines, Sept. 27 at The Hill, the tournament’s tented hospitality venue overlooking the 16th, 17th and 18th holes of TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle.

News 3 anchor Kim Wagner will emcee the event, which is set to feature a silent auction and a speech from keynote speaker Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman.

Lunch will be served by Buca di Beppo, with wines by Lulu B. Wines and dessert by Retro Bakery.

Tickets are $125, or reserve a table of 10 for $1,000. VIP tables are available for $1,500 and include weekend tickets to the The Hill for the tournament, which is scheduled for Sept. 25-Oct. 2.

KONA GRILL ANNOUNCES NEW MENU ITEMS

Kona Grill at Boca Park, 750 S. Rampart Blvd., recently began serving items from its new (Revive) menu, including two guests favorites that have been brought back for a limited time: Tuna Wasabi and Five Spice BBQ Baby Back Ribs.

Both items were hands-down winners in Kona Grill’s polls and guests requests on Facebook and Twitter.

Also on the menu are two new entrees, Korean Tuna Roll and Grilled Chicken & Pear Salad, and a new dessert, Banana Cream Pie.

Kona Grill also has new bar coasters that feature a QR code that guests can scan with their smart phones, taking them to a website where various Sam Adams beers are paired with menu items.

LAS VEGAS RESTAURANT WEEK wraps up Sunday

Las Vegas Restaurant Week is scheduled to raise funds for Three Square food bank at restaurants across the valley through Sunday. Participating restaurants are offering multi-course menus for $20.11, $30.11 or $50.11. A portion of each will go to Three Square to help fight hunger in Southern Nevada.

More than 80 restaurants are scheduled to participate, including Rao’s, Mesa Grill and Payard Pâtisserie & Bistro at Caesars Palace, Serendipity 3, the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas, KGB: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers at Harrah’s Las Vegas and Martorano’s at the Rio. SILVER OAK WINE DINNER COMING TO FLEMING’S

A Silver Oak wine dinner featuring the just-released 2007 Alexander Valley Cabernet is planned for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 and 17 at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, 8721 W. Charleston Blvd.

A five-course menu will be served, paired with five wines from Silver Oak and Twomey Cellars. The menu is set to feature roasted red pepper and arugula flatbread with goat cheese, tuna carpaccio, petite lamb chops with polenta fries, Newport Club rib-eye and a trio of flavored truffles.

The highlight of the evening will be a side-by-side vertical tasting of the 2006 and 2007 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

WINE WALK TO RAISE FUNDS FOR NEW VISTA COMMUNITY

Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host a wine walk from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 24 to benefit New Vista Community, a nonprofit group that provides equal opportunities and support for intellectually challenged people of all ages.

Wine walk tickets are $25 per person in advance. Tickets at the door will cost $30 for one or $50 for two.

FLEMING’S PLANS OPENING-NIGHT WINE TASTINGS IN SEPTEMBER

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, 8721 W. Charleston Blvd., plans to host Opening Night wine tastings from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays in September.

The tastings will debut all 100 selections from the new Fleming’s 100. Each tasting event will offer 20 different wines, and guests will be able to sample all of them.

A preview of the new small plates menu also will be featured, including sliced filet mignon, jumbo shrimp scampi skewers, New Zealand petite lamb chops, ahi tuna skewers, New Bedford scallops, filet mignon skewers and Fleming’s lobster tempura.
