Dance Mile to close part of Las Vegas Blvd Saturday

There will be people dancing in the streets on Saturday.

A portion of Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed for two hours for the Las Vegas Dance Mile 2014 event in downtown Las Vegas.

The street will be closed from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. from Fremont Street to Clark Avenue. The street will be a section of a parade route that includes the Fremont Street Experience pedestrian area from Third Street to Las Vegas Boulevard.

Signs will direct motorists to detours.

Dance Mile 2014 is an interactive dance experience that will feature a mobile DJ and a mile-long parade route for dance participants.

The event is a benefit for Four Square and Culture Shock Las Vegas.

Late registration is still available on thedancemile.com website for $47 per person or $85 a couple.

Organizers are requesting no pets, strollers or drinking on the parade route.

Dance Mile 2014 is the first of six downtown events in the next month that will involve road closures. Some closures are planned for the Life is Beautiful festival Oct. 24-26, a Halloween parade Oct. 31, a Nevada Day parade Oct. 31, a Veterans Day parade Nov. 11 and the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon Nov. 16.
