Cooling stations open as temperatures of 110 degrees predicted

As the National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning through Sunday for the valley, additional cooling stations opened to the public.

Highs are expected to reach 110 degrees by Saturday and will continue to be in the triple digits for at least the next week.

According to the National Weather Service, some parts of Las Vegas will get up to 112 degrees.

Residents are reminded to drink plenty of water and to never leave children, disabled adults or pets inside parked vehicles.

Cooling stations will be opened throughout the valley in an effort to move the homeless and other individuals out of the heat and keep them hydrated.

Anyone can dial 211 to find the nearest cooling station, or visit www.HelpHopeHome.org
