Ceremony to mark new fire station’s opening
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at
9 a.m. today for a $3.5 million Clark County fire station that is replacing a smaller, aging facility in the southwest valley.
The new Fire Station 22 at 6745 W. Flamingo Road has been operating for about a month. It is 13,500 square feet, more than double the size of the former, 32-year-old station next door.
The new station has a training room, a clean room for medical equipment and a larger garage for emergency vehicles.
“This modern facility has the size and amenities necessary to help our firefighters better serve the surrounding community,” County Commissioner Susan Brager said in a statement.
The station serves the area bounded by Decatur Boulevard, Buffalo Drive, and Sahara and Hacienda avenues.
It has a paramedic fire engine, paramedic rescue unit and ladder truck. Crews responded to about 7,700 emergency calls last year.
