Car crash leaves one dead

A woman died after her car struck a brick wall near Lake Mead Boulevard and Simmons Street Monday morning.

Relatives have identified her as 26-year-old Amelia Mccurdy of Las Vegas.

North Las Vegas police said Mccurdy was driving her Nissan Versa west on Lake Mead Boulevard when she drove into a brick wall.

Her sister, Niesha Dunlap, said she was going “highway speed” before she lost control of her car. Mccurdy was then ejected from the car.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Take advantage of life and live it well,” Dunlap said about her sister.

Another relative described Mccurdy as a spiritual person who loved God.

“She was just a fun, loving and outgoing person,” the female relative said. “She loved life. She loved her family and it’s really awful that it came to and end like this for her.”

Mccurdy’s relatives said was born and raised in Las Vegas. She leaves behind one son and two daughters.

North Las Vegas police are still investigating the crash.
