ATV rider killed in North Las Vegas crash

A man died Monday after the ATV he was riding crashed into a drainage ditch near Goldfield Street and Sergeant Jordan Avenue, North Las Vegas Police said.

North Las Vegas police found the man lying in a ditch about 4:20 p.m. He later died at University Medical Center.

The preliminary investigation indicated the North Las Vegas man was speeding south on Goldfield and attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Sergeant Jordan. He was unable to negotiate the turn, veered off the road and fell about 12 feet into a drainage ditch, police said.

The man’s identity and cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office after his family has been notified.

This is the first fatal crash in North Las Vegas this year.
