Accident knocks out traffic lights at Charleston and Decatur

A crash at Charleston and Decatur boulevards sent at least one to the hospital and knocked out power to traffic lights for at least four hours Tuesday morning, Las Vegas police said.

Officers were called to the accident shortly before 5 a.m. Two vehicles were involved, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

At least one person was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Meltzer said.

It was not clear how the accident occurred, but one of the vehicles caught fire and one of them crashed into a junction box for the traffic lights. It was not clear if it was the same vehicle, Meltzer said.

About 9 a.m., officers were still on the scene directing traffic and there was no timeline as to when the traffic signals would be restored, Meltzer said.
