4 apply for Assembly seat; deadline is Thursday
The open Nevada Assembly District 37 seat has attracted four applicants who want to fill the vacancy.
Clark County commissioners plan to appoint someone to fill the seat at its Dec. 16 meeting, well before the 2015 session starts.
The applicants are Brian Hardy, an attorney with the law firm of Marquis Aurbach Coffing; Glenn Trowbridge, a retired director of the Clark County Parks and Recreation Department; Charles Harvey, former administrator of the Nevada Taxicab Authority; and Donald Graham, a Las Vegas police sergeant.
The replacement will serve out the remainder of Wesley Duncan’s term, which expires in 2016. Duncan was re-elected in November, and later decided to resign for a job with the state attorney general’s office.
To qualify, applicants must live within the district and belong to the same political party as Duncan, a Republican.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Thursday. Application forms are available at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov.

It’s the second legislative appointment this year for the commission, which picked on Dec. 2 former state Gaming Control Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli for the state Senate District 6 vacancy created by Mark Hutchison’s election to the lieutenant governor post in November.
The Assembly District 37 boundaries overlap with the Senate District 6 in the northwest Las Vegas metropolitan area, and all the applicants so far for the Assembly seat also had applied for the Senate seat.
