Three people were seriously injured after an east valley crash between a car and a truck early Sunday morning, according to Las Vegas police.
The crash was reported on Sahara Avenue and Carillo Street, west of South Nellis Boulevard about 4:30 a.m., police said.
Witnesses told police that a 2010 Ford Fusion was speeding down Sahara and crashed into a 2005 Ford pickup truck that was turning from a stop sign at Carillo. The truck came to a stop while the Fusion lost control and crashed into a forklift that was parked in a construction zone, police said.
The driver of the Fusion, 21-year-old Kenneth Quintana and his passengers, Lalo Macias, 19, and Anthony Morales, 20, suffered serious to critical injuries, police said. They were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
One of them may have broken his neck, Metro Lt. John Liberty said.
The occupants of the truck, Domingo Martinez-Hernandez, 38 suffered no injuries. The passenger, 24-year-old Monica Hernandez, only suffered minor injuries, police said.
A driver may have been impaired, Liberty said. It was not immediately clear which one or if there were any arrests made.
While police investigated the crash, a distracted driver ran into one of the utility vehicles there for the crash, Liberty said. No injuries were reported from that crash.
