13-year-old girl who shot herself dies

A 13-year-old girl who shot herself last week died Sunday night, the Clark County coroner’s office said Monday.

Marina Momcheva died at 7:52 p.m., the coroner said. The cause and manner of death had not been determined yet.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Abuse and Neglect Detail is investigating the death.

Momcheva was an eighth-grader at Bailey Middle School, a district official said.

Police said she shot herself the night of Dec. 13 at a home on the 2100 block of Dragon Claw Lane, near Lake Mead and Hollywood boulevards.

Personnel with the Abuse and Neglect Detail also are investigating the death of 10-year-old Kameron Asgari.

He fatally shot himself after finding an unsecured weapon the afternoon of Dec. 13 at a southwest valley home.

The coroner’s office hadn’t determined the cause and manner of death Monday.

The shooting was reported at 2:45 p.m. at a home on the 5800 block of Ponderosa Way, near Russell Road and Jones Boulevard.

Asgari was a fifth-grader at Jydstrup Elementary School.
