Updated June 24, 2024 - 5:58 pm

The Metropolitan Police Department was investigating a fatal multi-vehicle crash Monday in the east Las Vegas Valley.

According to police, the crash, which involved four vehicles, occurred around 8:56 a.m. near S. Nellis Boulevard and E. Desert Inn Road.

Several people were transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. A 21-year-old man was pronounced deceased after being transported to the hospital.

Police said a “series of collisions” occured after the 21-year-old, driving a Kia K5, was traveling north on Nellis Boulevard at a high speed when it collided with a Lexus ES350 that was attempting to turn onto the road.

The Lexus then collided with a Honda Civic, while the Kia traveled across a median into opposite travel lanes where it collided with a Ram 2500.

The 21-year-old’s death marked the 81st traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
