A wild horse grazes in an area of Kyle Canyon below the Retreat on Charleston Peak hotel and Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway. The area was briefly a 9-hole golf course in the late 1990s, but it’s now public U.S. Forest Service land with a patchwork of trails. (Natalie Burt)
