Sloan Canyon visitor station in Henderson to expand hours

The visitor contact station at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area will expand its hours starting Sunday.

The facility at the end of Nawghaw Poa Road, near Democracy Drive and Via Firenze at Henderson’s southern edge, will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily through next May.

The station at the entrance to the 48,438-acre conservation area has been open Friday through Sunday only since May.

Sloan Canyon was designated as a national conservation area in 2002 to protect hundreds of rock art panels and other cultural sites and the landscape surrounding them.
