Motorcyclist dies in a crash in Henderson

A man died after a Tuesday afternoon crash in Henderson.

At about 12:50 p.m., the Henderson Police Department responded to a fatal crash at Sun City Anthem Drive and Thunder Bay Avenue, police spokeswoman Michelle French said.

A 25-year-old Henderson man was riding a 2014 Suzuki Enduro motorcycle northbound on Sun City Anthem Drive approaching the intersection of Thunder Bay Avenue. Then, the 69-year-old female driver of a 2008 Toyota Prius turned left in front of him, failing to yield at the intersection.

The motorcycle rider, who was wearing a helmet, crashed into the Prius and was thrown from his cycle. He was pronounced dead on scene, French said.

The Prius’ driver was uninjured. She stayed on scene, cooperated with police and voluntarily submitted to blood testing. She did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol, French said.

Sun City Anthem Drive northbound at Hayden Creek Terrace was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.

The Clark County Coroner’s office will identify the motorcyclist after next of kin has been notified.

The man’s death was the 11th traffic-related fatality in Henderson in 2016.
