Disgruntled citizen prompts evacuation of Henderson City Hall

Henderson City Hall was evacuated Wednesday afternoon after a critical incident alarm was issued.

A city employee intentionally hit the alarm because of a disgruntled citizen who was in the lobby, said Henderson Police Department spokesman Scott Williams.

The alert — sent at 1:23 p.m. — prompted dozens of police officers to respond to the incident. The situation was cleared four minutes later.

All city administrative staff members have the option of using the alert system if they ever feel threatened, said city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards. Richards said the citizen was speaking loudly and he did not have any kind of weapons.
