Coroner IDs motorcyclist killed in Henderson crash

A motorcyclist who died in a collision Sunday has been identified as 19-year-old Marcello Giovanni Gennuso of Henderson.

His death was ruled an accident by the Clark County coroner’s office.

The collision occurred about 12:20 a.m. at the intersection of Paseo Verde Parkway and Carnegie Street, Henderson police said.

Initial information indicated the driver of a 2017 Honda CR-V failed to yield the right of way to the 1994 Honda motorcycle, police said. Gennuso was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died.

Gennuso’s uncle, J.R. Gennuso, said his nephew was someone who could make everybody laugh.

“Marcello was a kid who was always cracking jokes,” he said. “He could make you laugh at the drop of a hat and if he sensed you were upset. He made sure you knew how much you meant to him.”

His uncle also spoke of his nephew’s love for his motorcycle.

“Marcello was so proud of that bike,” he said. “He always went out of his way for fellow bikers in his community.”

Funeral services for Gennuso will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at La Paloma funeral home in Henderson, 5450 Stephanie St., followed by a celebration of life. The service is open to anyone from the motorcycle community in hopes of bringing awareness to what his uncle, J.R. Gennuso, called a growing danger to motorcyclists posed by inattentive drivers.

A fundraising website was created to help with funeral expenses.
