Updated February 5, 2022 - 9:24 am

A Boulder City man died after being hit by a vehicle Friday night in east Las Vegas, police said.

The 79-year-old pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Indios Avenue around 5:30 p.m., according to a Metropolitan Police Department press release. He crossed Boulder in a marked crosswalk “against the pedestrian signal” and into the path of a 2010 Lincoln MKZ. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and later died.

Police said the driver of the Lincoln, a 57-year-old man, stayed at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Justin Byers said the intersection was closed while police investigate. At around 11 p.m., the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada said northbound Boulder Highway had reopened at Indios Avenue.
