Motorcyclist critical after being struck by other vehicles in Las Vegas

Updated January 6, 2025 - 9:25 pm

A motorcyclist suffered a severed foot and was in critical condition after being hit when two cars collided at Eastern and Cedar avenues during the Monday rush hour.

“Officers learned a white sedan struck a grey sedan resulting in the motorcyclist being struck,” Metropolitan Police Department Lt.. Braden Schrag said in a text.

The motorcyclist, who was later identified as North Las Vegas resident Jose Nunez, 25, was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Schrag said.

The preliminary investigation said a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on Eastern Avenue and approaching Cedar Avenue on a green traffic signal. A 2018 Honda Civic was

stopped facing northbound on Eastern Avenue, south of Cedar Avenue, in the only left turn lane for a flashing yellow left-turn arrow. A collision occurred when the driver of the Honda failed to yield the right of way

and crossed the Harley-Davidson motorcycle’s path of travel. The Honda collided with the left side of the motorcycle, ejecting the rider forward and onto the roadway and re-directing the motorcycle into the left side of the Nissan.

The collision occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m.
