Grass fire breaks out at Wetlands Park

Updated December 29, 2021 - 10:35 pm

A fire broke out at the Clark County Wetlands park on Wednesday evening, the Clark County Fire Department said.

Assistant fire chief Dan Heenan said in a statement that the “grass fire” was close to the visitor center but was not threatening the building.

As of 10 p.m., fire personnel remained on scene. Heenan said fire command believed the blaze was contained to about nine acres. No structures were in danger and there were no injures reported, according to Heenan’s last update. It was not clear how it had started.

The Metropolitan Police Department and park police were assisting at the scene, Heenan said.
