2 pedestrians injured, 1 critically, by vehicle in southeast valley

Updated March 20, 2020 - 3:02 pm

One man was killed and another was critically injured when they were run over by a pickup during a fist fight in southeast Las Vegas, police said.

Las Vegas police said they were called to East Warm Springs Road, west of the intersection of South Bruce Street, at 6:01 a.m. for a report of two people struck by a vehicle. Police said they arrived and found two men gravely injured in a travel lane of Warm Springs. Both were rushed to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center. One later died. The second was listed in critical condition Friday afternoon, police said.

An investigation showed that the men were fighting on the south sidewalk of Warm Springs when they both tumbled into the roadway. There, they were run over by a 1988 Ford Bronco driven by a 63-year-old Las Vegas man traveling eastbound on Warm Springs.

Police are still trying to determine the identities of the two men struck by the Bronco. The driver of the Bronco did not show signs of impairment and remained at the scene.

The death marks the 22nd traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police jurisdiction in 2020.
