What is your favorite required reading?

Linsey Scriven interviewed students at Las Vegas Academy.

MERYL MANAOG, JUNIOR

I loved reading "The Awakening" because of the main character Edna Pontellier and how modern she was for her time — she dared to be cheeky.

KRYSTAL ALMODOVAR, SENIOR

I liked reading "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" because it had so many adventures, and every time I picked it up I just couldn’t put it down. I just found the book overall to be very entertaining.

RICHARD TAYLOR, SENIOR

I loved "The Crucible"! I think being a theater major at my school made me like it. It gives me chills when I read it.

MANDY LEFFLER, FRESHMAN

I liked "Lord of the Flies" because it was funny when Piggy was crushed by the boulder.

KAMRIN HARBIM, JUNIOR

"The Awakening" is what did it for me. I loved how Edna was a strong woman. You just don’t often see those types of characters in literature.

JORDAN BROWN, SOPHOMORE

My favorite required reading was "To Kill a Mockingbird" because it told the timeless life lesson of growing up and maturing through life’s rough trials.
