SERVICES

Valley Outreach Synagogue-P’nai Tikvah will offer free High Holy Days services. Rosh Hashana services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday at Texas Station, 2101 Texas Star Lane, North Las Vegas. Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur services will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and 10 a.m. Oct. 8 at Texas Station. Tashlich and a picnic are planned for Friday; call for time and location. St. George’s Anglican Church, 7676 W. Gilmore Ave., will offer blessing of the animals in celebration of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi at 4 p.m. Oct. 1 on the church patio (395-4576).

King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, will have Kever Dorot, a communitywide memorial service, Oct. 2 at the following venues: 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. North; 1 p.m. at King David Memorial Cemetery; and 1 p.m. at Palm Memorial Park Northwest, 6701 N. EVENTS

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada, 9001 Hillpointe Road, will celebrate its one-year anniversary at its new home in Summerlin 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Programs offered by the center will be highlighted. The free event also will feature entertainment, including "America’s Got Talent" finalist Seth Grabel, as well as children’s activities, a preview of the JCCSN Book Festival, vendors, and ice cream and birthday cake (794-0090).

The Las Vegas Greek Food Festival, featuring food, live music, folk-dance groups, and entertainment, will be presented 3-11 p.m. today and noon-10 p.m. Sunday at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 El Camino Road. Admission is $6 for adults, free for ages 12 and younger and active-duty members of the military and their immediate families (248-3896).

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Our Lady of the Rosary will have its annual fashion show and luncheon noon-3 p.m. Oct. 1 in the Ave Maria Center at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Tickets are $20 and proceeds will be used to help the needy in the Las Vegas Valley (458-2593).

Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 6220 N. Jones Blvd., will have its annual Lutheran Women’s Missionary League yard sale 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 1 in the church parking lot (645-4998).

Epiphany Episcopal Church, 9041 S. Pecos Road, Suite 4000, Henderson, will have a "Taste of Spain" fundraiser at 5 p.m. Oct. 1. The event will feature Spanish wines and tapas as well as a silent auction and drawing. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and are available at the church before 10 a.m. Sunday services or by calling 339-7239. Proceeds will benefit church ministries.

The St. Francis of Assisi Parish Festival will be 6-11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Oct. 1 and 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Oct 2 at 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson. The festival will feature animal blessings, entertainment, drawings, international food tastings, children’s activities and crafts (914-2175).

Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 8425 W. Windmill Lane, will have a "Sips 4 Scholarships" event, featuring gourmet food and international wines, 7-9 p.m. Oct. 1. Proceeds will benefit New Hope Christian Academy Scholarship students. For tickets and information, call 873-3589.

MEETINGS

The Las Vegas Lay Dominicans will meet 10 a.m.-noon today for prayer, formation activities and a Communion service at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Newman Community, 4765 Brussels St.
