RELIGION NOTES

MUSIC

Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 6670 W. Cheyenne Ave., will offer a concert by baritone Charles Johnson at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The concert will be followed by a reception. A freewill offering will be collected. Johnson also will sing at the church’s Sunday morning services (645-1777).

Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd., will present a free family concert featuring pianist Mykola Suk at 3 p.m. Sunday. The concert’s theme is the bicentennial of the birth of Franz Liszt. Goodwill offerings will be accepted (341-7800).

Christ Church Episcopal, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, will have an Advent and Christmas recital featuring local organists of the American Guild of Organists performing at 4 p.m. Dec. 4. Freewill offerings will be received to benefit the AGO Scholarship Fund (735-7655).

The Center for Spiritual Living Greater Las Vegas, 1420 E. Harmon Ave., will present a concert of acoustic music with Karl Anthony at 6 p.m. Dec. 4. A donation of $15 to $25 is suggested (739-8200).

The Desert Winds Wind Ensemble will perform "A Winter Celebration" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at Desert Spring United Methodist Church, 120 N. Pavilion Center Drive. The concert will feature a variety of traditional and new holiday music. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted (625-2787 ).

SERVICES

The Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada will offer a Thanksgiving service for members of all faiths at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave. Attendees may bring canned food to donate to the Community Food Bank (895-9303).

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., will offer a "Thanksgiving Eve Eve" service at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by a pie social. The church will collect groceries to be donated to the needy (732-2052).

Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 6220 N. Jones Blvd., will offer Advent services at 7 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Nov. 30. A free supper will be available before each service at 5:30 p.m. (645-4998).

EVENTS

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1730 N. Pecos Road, will have its Country Crafters Fair featuring baked goods, crocheted and knitted items, crafts for children, Christmas decorations, stuffed animals, homemade rugs and other items, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. today (642-7744).

Living Water Baptist Church, 5400 E. Carey Ave., will have a bazaar featuring table runners, place mats, aprons, cloth books, glass boxes, pillows, wood items, children’s quilts, novelty candy, baked goods and other items, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. today.

Women’s Auxiliary "The Vine" of Mountain View Presbyterian Church will have a holiday bake sale and cafe featuring baked goods, cakes, pies and other items, 9 a.m.-noon today at 8601 Del Webb Blvd. The cafe will offer breakfast items and refreshments, and an Opportunity Table will be available with gently used jewelry and books (341-7800).

Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave., will have its annual Harvest Celebration featuring a gospel musical and drama at 6 p.m. Sunday (648-6155).

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada will present a free event at the Jewish Book & Arts Festival with a discussion with Mark Ribowsky, author of "Howard Cosell: The Man, the Myth, and the Transformation of American Sports," at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Congregation Ner Tamid, 55 N. Valle Verde Drive, Henderson. The event is free and open to the public (794-0090).

Liberty Baptist Church Ladies’ Christmas Boutique will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 2-3 at 6501 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Items at the boutique will include handmade quilts, Christmas decorations, toys, a kids corner, baked goods and free hot apple cider (647-4522).

The Faith Lutheran High School Grad Nite Live will have its annual Crusader Christmas Boutique featuring specialty food items, clothing, home goods, a drawing, bake sale and other items, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 3 at Faith Lutheran Junior/Senior High School, 2015 S. Hualapai Way. The event will benefit Grad Night Live, an alcohol- and drug-free all-night graduation celebration for the high school’s seniors.

Congregation Ner Tamid’s Sisterhood will have its annual holiday bazaar featuring jewelry, clothing, crafts, pet gifts, children’s items, food and other items, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 4 at 55 N. Valle Verde Drive, Henderson (733-6292).

MEETINGS

The Las Vegas Lay Dominicans will have their monthly meeting featuring prayer, formation activities and a Communion service, 10 a.m.-noon today at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Newman Community, 4765 Brussels St.
