MUSIC

Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd., will have a 20th anniversary concert featuring the church’s Gospel and Chancel Choirs, the Jubilee Ringers and Bells of Mountain View Ringers, Mark Wherry, pianist Spencer Baker and organist Tim Harvey at 3 p.m. Sunday. First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., will present the Vanguard University of Southern California Concert Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble at 6 p.m. March 17 (384-4554).

EVENTS

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., “New Beginnings” series will continue at noon Wednesday with a discussion on “Christian Basics — God the Father.” A light meal will be served following the event (732-2052).

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will have their annual retreat today at St. Viator’s Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Mass will be at 9 a.m. followed by a continental breakfast. Nevada State Chaplain John McShane will be the retreat priest. The fee for the retreat, breakfast and a light lunch is $10. Catholic women older than 18 may attend (204-5083).

Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave., will feature guest speaker Diane Rose at 2 p.m. today. Rose, a blind quilter, will share her story, some of her quilts, crafts and recently completed cookbook (458-2241).

International lecturer and author Doron Kornbluth will discuss the subject of his new book “Cremation or Burial? A Jewish View” and answer questions at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104. The lecture is free. Seating is limited. To reserve a seat, call 485-6500.

The Presbyterian Women’s Rummage Sale will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m. March 23 and 8 a.m.-noon March 24 at First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd. Proceeds will help support mission projects (384-4554).

CLASSES

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., offers English as a Second Language conversational classes at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (541-1952 or 732-2052).

Community Baptist Church, 245 E. Foster Ave., Henderson, offers a free reading program for all ages 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays (565-0071).
