RELIGION NOTES

MUSIC

The Southern Nevada chapter of the American Guild of Organists will perform its traditional Advent-Christmas Recital at 4 p.m. Sunday at Christ Church Episcopal, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway. The program is free and open to the public (735-7655).

Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 6220 N. Jones Blvd., will present its Community Christmas Carol Sing Spectacular at 4 p.m. Sunday. The concert will feature Christmas hymns and favorites. Admission is free. A goodwill offering will be accepted. The event will conclude with a potluck dinner (645-4998).

First Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., will present a Christmas concert featuring Dr. David Dorway and Friends at 1 p.m. Dec. 9. The program will include Christmas carols and a reading. Admission is free (384-4554).

Shadow Hills Baptist Church Music and Creative Arts Ministries will present "The Singing Christmas Tree: Christmas Through the Decades" at 7 p.m. Dec. 12-14. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at 7811 Vegas Drive. Admission is free. Child care will be provided for ages 4 and younger (880-7811).

EVENTS

Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road, will welcome special guest Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas to weekend services at 4 and 6 p.m. today and 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday (658-2722).

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas, 3616 E. Lake Mead Blvd, will present an Olde English Evening, featuring food, games, dancing and music by the Constant Rose Band, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today. Tickets are $15 (395-6992).

Faith Lutheran Junior/Senior High School, 2015 S. Hualapai Way, will have its annual Crusader Christmas Boutique from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. The event will feature a bake sale, drawings, jewelry, clothing, home goods, skin and beauty products, and other items. Admission is free. Proceeds will benefit the school’s 2013 Grad Nite Live (804-0501).

Saint George’s Anglican Church, 7676 W. Gilmore Ave., will have a Kirkin’ o’ Tartan to celebrate the Feast of St. Andrew at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The celebration will feature prayer, music, dance and shortbread (395-4576).

Palm Mortuary will have its annual Tree of Memory Holiday Service, a nondenominational service, at the following locations: Monday at Palm Boulder Highway; Tuesday at Palm Eastern; and Wednesday at Palm Northwest. Programs will begin at 7 p.m. and will conclude with a tree lighting ceremony. Engraved ornaments may be purchased ranging in price from $10 to $25. Proceeds will benefit the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health (464-8300).

The Las Vegas Redrock Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will present "The Nativity" at 6 p.m. Wednesday; 6 and 7 p.m. Thursday; 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Friday and Dec. 8 at Opportunity Village’s Ralph & Betty Engelstad Campus, 6050 S. Buffalo Drive. A Spanish performance will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The 25-minute production of the biblical account of Jesus Christ’s birth will also include live musical performances before the show, and Nativities from around the world on display (thenativitylv.com).

Zion United Methodist Church, 2108 N. Revere St., will have a holiday festival, featuring educational activities, crafts, games, food and other items, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8 (808-9557).

Northpointe Community Church’s J.O.Y. Ministry will have its Christmas ladies prayer breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 in Social Hall B at Sun City Aliante’s Community Center, 7394 Aliante Parkway, North Las Vegas. The Ramakrishna Vedanta Center of Las Vegas, 10732 Balsam Creek Road, will have its Christmas event Dec. 11. CLASSES

SINGLES GROUPS
