First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., will have a Hymn Festival, featuring brass, timpani, organ and a Mass choir from local congregations, at 5 p.m. Sunday. The event is free. A goodwill offering will be taken (384-4554).
The Desert Winds “Japanese Sketches” concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at Community Lutheran Church. Donation tickets are $10, and are available at www.thedesertwinds.org.

Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane, will host “Forbidden Art,” an exhibition of photographs of camp art from the collections of the Auschwitz Memorial, is on display. J.O.Y. Ministry will have its winter ladies prayer breakfast at 10 a.m. today in Social Hall “B” at Sun City Aliante Community Center, 7394 Aliante Parkway, North Las Vegas. The Ramakrishna-Vedanta Center, 10732 Balsam Creek Road, will offer a program featuring puja with guided meditation, a potluck luncheon, a talk on “Spiritual Adventures in Indian Monasteries” with Brahmachari Veda Chaitanya, and kirtan beginning at noon today. The Shrine of Our Lady of La Vang and the Vietnamese Catholics Community of Las Vegas will celebrate the Lunar New Year Festival from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at 4835 S. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas and Left of Center Gallery will offer a panel discussion on the “Battle for Civil Rights in Las Vegas” at noon today at the gallery located at 2207 W. Gowan Road, North Las Vegas. On Feb. 23, there will be a community forum on “Nuclear Weapons Testing — Effects on Civilian Populations.” The forums are in conjunction with the Social Justice Exhibitions on display at the gallery (647-7378).
St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 1920 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., will host the “Peace Be Still” revival at 7 p.m. Feb. 17-19. The Rev. Chester Smith of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Indianapolis will be the revivalist, and music will be performed by the St. James Gospel Choir (648-6606).
St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, will celebrate its 70th anniversary and Feast Day with a festival Feb. 23-24.
