During the above-average wildflower season of 2020, reddish-orange and apricot desert mallows were a feast for the eyes along the Owl Canyon Trail and a delicacy for hungry desert tortoises. The 2021 wildflower crop is expected to be lean because of a lack of rain in 2020. (Natalie Burt)
