Red Rock Canyon, Cathedral Rock Moonrise: A moderate two to three-mile hike Monday to view the rising moon over the Spring Mountains (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon, South Loop Overlooks: Tuesday, a moderate to strenuous seven-mile hike, with a 2,000-foot gain, past Echo Cave continuing from the first to the third overlook (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon, Rainbow Canyon: A strenuous four-mile climb to Harris Peak on Tuesday (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon, Fern Canyon Moonrise: A moderate three-mile hike Tuesday in the North Fork of Pine Creek (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon, Muffins Moonrise: Wednesday, a moderate three- to four-mile hike to a high overlook on Blue Diamond Hill (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon, Bristlecone Trail Moonrise: A moderate five-mile hike Thursday to view the rising moon over the Spring Mountains (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon, Potato Knoll Moonrise: Friday, a moderate three- to four-mile hike to the top of the Knoll (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people, 50 years and over, interested in hiking and related social activities will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Santa Fe Casino, 4949 N. Rancho Drive, South Parking Garage, on the left of Level 3, for a moderate three-hour hike at Mount Charleston (642-2285).

Friends of Nevada Wilderness: Join in Saturday and July 29, along with the Great Basin Trails Alliance, for a trail restoration project in the Alta Toquima Wilderness. Friends will provide dinner Saturday night, but bring camping gear and food for the remainder of project. There will also be an opportunity to visit Spencer Hot Springs. Las Vegas Valley Bicycle Club: A 6:15 a.m. moderate to fast 15-20 mile road ride is scheduled for Wednesday. Meet at the NuVision Cyclery on West Lake Mead Boulevard between Rampart Boulevard and Scholar Lane. (228-1333). There will be a 30-plus mile, moderate and hilly, ride on Wednesday and Thursday at 7 a.m., and a 30 to 50-plus mile long grade ride on Saturday at 7 a.m. Meet behind Starbucks on West Charleston Boulevard and Town Center Drive. And an easy ride of 25 to 35 miles of flat land on July 29 at 7 a.m. Meet at Einstein Brothers Bagels, 8400 Cheyenne Ave. (873-6256). Be sure to bring plenty of water for all rides.

Hunter Education Class: Nevada Department of Wildlife is accepting applications for the Aug. 4 classes, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive, Henderson, or the Carpenters Joint Apprentice Training Center, 4131 E.
