Corners of rooms are often thought to be awkward areas, suitable only for a potted plant. But that’s far too limited an assumption. Corners can actually offer opportunities for visually striking and space-maximizing placements of furniture or equipment.

: I have a house that I rent to a family with small children. In the bathroom (coincidentally where the children take their baths), I have water damage along both sides of the tub down to the floor. I have had the damage repaired, but what can I do to prevent this from happening again?
Professional as well as amateur designers often find it difficult to make a setting both stylish and comfortable. Achieving one or the other usually isn’t a daunting challenge if “stylish” is taken to mean whatever’s trendy at the moment and if “comfortable” is interpreted as “casual.”
